Subject Concerned:Airport Air Travel in China
In order to better safeguard the security of air transportation during the Beijing Olympics, starting from July 20, 2008, new special security check measures will be enforced in the following airports:
- Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA)
- Shanghai Hongqiao Airport
- Shanghai Pudong Airport
- Qingdao Airport
- Tianjin Airport
- Shenyang Airport
- Qinhuangdao Airport
- Shijiazhuang Airport
- Taiyuan Airport
- Ji'nan Airport
- Hangzhou Airport
- Nanjing Airport
- Hefei Airport
- Changchun Airport
- Harbin Airport
- Hohhot Airport
- Dalian Airport; plus
- all airports in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region
Anyone entering the above airports will be subject to security check at the entrance of the terminals.
Passengers entering these airports with explosives, inflammable or explosive articles will be subject to severe punishment in accordance with current laws and regulations of mainland China. Passengers must bear the resulting consequences, such as missing the flight.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early with ample time for security check.
It's understandable that everyone's safety and security should be the top priority. However, news currently being circulated around seems to suggest that there had been lengthy delays and chaotic queues caused by the special security measures. No doubt things will get "better" as more people get familiar and used to the new "terminal entrance check", but some airports and authorities have a lot to answer to simply for the not-so-smooth beginning on July 20.
