Title:Transit Visa in Shanghai?
Post 1 Transit Visa in Shanghai? Nov 28,07 01:11 PM

Hi everyone. I have conflicting in锛︼集锛诧辑ation regarding transit between international flights via Pudong airport in Shanghai, and would appreciate some clarification or input from the more experienced flyers.

Please clarify that which of the following is correct for non-Chinese passport holders making a transit stop at Pudong airport:

1. Most non-Chinese passport holders can get 24-hour transit visa upon arrival with passport holders from selected countries can get up to 48 hours at Pudong airport?

2. All non-Chinese passport holders get 48-hour transit visa upon arrival at Pudong airport?

Thanks in advance.

I believe all passengers can get a transit visa

I think the first one is correct. Passport holders of some countries can get up to 48 hours while most countries are only given 24 hours on-arrival.master(12/18/07 21:23)

According to this article at http://en.carnoc.com/list/5/5479.html

Looks like there are quite a bit confusions over visa issues, particularly in regard to the 48-hour visa problem in Shanghai.

The crew and the passengers on airplane who transit through China by direct flying without leaving the airport and their staying time at the transit airports in China is less than 24 hours will be required no transit visa. ( citizens of UK are not included. citizens of USA only get 48 hour stay at SHA and PVG, not anywhere else)

When transiting through China via Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao Airport with staying in Shanghai less than 48 hours, the transit visa is not required if you are the national citizen of following countries: Japan, South Korea, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria and Greece. Remember that you valid passport, the visa to your target country, and the booked city-by-city airplane tickets, whose date and seats have already be confirmed, are high required.
